Jo Lancashire has joined us this week as Senior Interior Designer and we’d love for you to get to know her better.

What inspired you to get into interior design and build work?

“I love the creativity that interior design affords me, but also the comfort that the constraints of a built environment provide. It is a really magical feeling designing a space and then seeing it come to life. Being able to live the highs and lows of building the project and the delight of the client at the end, it is incredibly rewarding and I feel very lucky.”

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you found your way to our team?

“I have recently come from a slightly larger D&B company and have specialised in workplace design with them, before that I have worked for a mixture of consultancy and other D&B companies and myself with some lecturing thrown in on the side. I feel like it’s been a journey of gaining different experiences working in different ways for all kinds of people, but the team at 2G feels like a great fit. I’m ready to embrace all of their good practices and level up my hospitality design!”

Tell us about your favourite project you were involved with.

“I feel as a designer you have to shelve your own opinions on style to allow you to work successfully with all clients and accommodate all tastes, but I do have a favourite project; When I was working at The Space* Studio, Kevin Singh and I successfully pitched a design for the English National Ballet’s new HQ in London. There were just so many parts that made it special – I used to do some ballet dancing as a child and was a little awestruck by the dancers and to be creating something just for them, Glenn Howells had done a fabulous job of designing the building, London City Island was a unique new development and our pitch was conceptual and inspired. Definitely a career highlight!”

What’s one design tip or philosophy you always keep in mind on the job?

“Understand your client. Every need is bespoke and every company needs help in different ways, if we can help create a space that not only looks and feels amazing, promotes health and wellbeing, but also elevates the business within it then we have done our job!”

What are you most excited about in your new role with us?

“I’m really excited to get involved in some of the exciting projects 2G are involved in and meet the enviable client list of course, but am also inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of our leadership – I couldn’t be more ready! Thanks for taking the chance on me.”

Please join us in giving Jo a warm welcome to 2G – we can’t wait to see what projects she gets involved with first!
