Created by some of the most innovative bar makers in the City with a true sense of passion and talent. Couch was recently named one of the Top 20 bars in the world you must visit by the Telegraph and continues to receive great recognition. Each completely original drink is based on a different song and musician from Kurt Cobain to Kenny Rogers. A select wine list and Negroni on tap to boot.
The Brief
We were asked to come up with a simple, timeless design that reflected their concept. The brief was to create a neighbourhood cocktail bar that’s like walking into your friend’s living room. Comfortable, not claustrophobic, with cocktails inspired by music. The bar area was key to give the space to make the magic happen and the rest of the space to let the cocktails do the talking.
The Solution
We wanted to make the space comfortable, homely and inviting, so we ran with the brand’s dark green colours. Inspired by olive green, green victorian brick tiling, old spirit brand pictures and timeless design.
Everything is paired back and uncomplicated, allowing the team and the cocktails to do all the talking. That’s why the majority of the seats are around the bar and comfortable seating throughout.
Within the space planning, sufficient space for the bar area was crucial. We kept a lot of the lighting low level to create an intimate, cosy, evening atmosphere.
Couch has since been awarded several accolades including one of the top 50 cocktail bars.
