Vieni, a Sicilian-inspired restaurant opening in February at The Goodsyard in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, is a celebration of warmth, generosity and authentic hospitality. Led by founder Angelina “Ange” Adamo whose first bricks-and-mortar venue follows her success with Tutto Apposto and The Circle Lounge at Birmingham Hippodrome. Vieni brings a vibrant, welcoming concept rooted in Sicilian home life to the city’s newest mixed-use destination.
The brief
2G was brought on board to develop the design and build-out of Vieni’s reception area, dining spaces and experiential zones, working closely with the project team from concept through to delivery. The restaurant needed to feel like stepping into Nonna’s house, a place that feels personal, joyful and true to Ange’s heritage, while supporting a fully functional hospitality operation in a high-profile city centre setting.
The challenge
Creating a distinctive restaurant interior for Vieni meant interpreting and amplifying the founder’s emotional connection to Sicily and family, and embedding that narrative into every corner of the space. A few of the challenges we responded to included:
- Translating an emotional narrative into built form: The design had to feel like a warm, lived-in Sicilian home, not a typical restaurant aesthetic.
- Balancing personality with functionality: The space needed to support kitchen operations, service flow and guest comfort while also delivering a joyful, memorable experience.
- Incorporating extraordinary elements: From a giant disco ball, a very particular request from Ange, to bespoke wallpaper based on Sicilian tiles, the design had to accommodate expressive, bespoke pieces within a cohesive whole.
- Working within a new mixed-use development context: Situated in the evolving Goodsyard neighbourhood, the interior needed to sit confidently within a contemporary urban scheme while offering a uniquely vibrant identity.
The solution
Our design turned to narrative, craft and theatre to bring Vieni’s Sicilian spirit to life:
- Bespoke Sicilian-inspired wallpaper was created exclusively for the project, providing a rich, playful backdrop that speaks to Mediterranean colour, pattern and heritage.
- A giant disco ball, Ange’s much-anticipated feature, was carefully sourced and positioned to catch sunlight flooding into the space, adding movement, sparkle and unexpected joy.
- Open kitchen at the heart of the space reinforces connection between kitchens and dining, inviting guests into the rhythm of hospitality and making every visit feel communal.
- Thoughtful spatial planning ensured that zones flow intuitively from reception through to dining and beyond, balancing practicality with personality.
The resulting design feels like a home with character; warm, sociable, intimate and expressive of Vieni’s story.
Looking ahead
Within weeks of opening, Vieni has established itself as the Jewellery Quarter’s go-to for Sicilian hospitality. 2G’s design-build strategy, placing the open kitchen at the heart of the 40-cover space, has successfully created the “Nonna’s house” warmth the client envisioned, while the inclusion of high-impact features like the statement disco ball has made the venue a social media standout.
Press Insight:
“Vieni translates to ‘come in’ and the plan is for the restaurant to feel like nonna’s house… The open kitchen in the heart of the room is set off by Sicilian-inspired wallpaper, a Bertha charcoal oven and more modern touches like a statement disco ball.”

Customer Sentiment:
“The venue was beautifully decorated- interesting, warm, and fun. It’s a sweet, small space that even with few people in felt like it had a good buzz.”
