We were brought on to deliver the construction of a distinctive residential apartment block near Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, working in close partnership with PNP Consultants. The vision was to breathe new life into a disused factory building while preserving its original industrial character.
The Challenge
The project involved retaining the existing brick shell of the former factory and constructing a brand-new steel frame structure within it, a complex process requiring precision and coordination. The goal was to blend modern residential standards with raw, industrial aesthetics, incorporating both bespoke craftsmanship and sustainable reuse of materials.
The Solution
We delivered a striking mix of old and new: exposed steelwork, original brick, and visible copper pipework contrast with contemporary finishes like underfloor heating and engineered timber floors. The apartments feature large double-glazed folding windows, handmade leather strap handles by a local artist, and repurposed industrial light fittings salvaged from a former jail. The result is a bold, characterful building that respects its heritage while offering high-spec, modern living.
