Loaf

Loaf is a brand known for comfort, ease, and character and their new head office needed to embody that same feeling. We were asked to design a flexible, hybrid workplace that reflected Loaf’s laid-back values while giving their growing team the tools and space they needed to connect, collaborate and thrive. From quiet chats to team huddles and town hall gatherings, the new space had to support it all with a design that felt more like a home than a corporate office.

The Brief

Our approach needed to honour both the authenticity and evolution of Loaf’s brand. The office would be a place where teams could feel involved, connected, and inspired able to keep up with campaigns and creative developments, while enjoying a space that genuinely made them happy. Loaf wanted a working environment that encouraged co-creation, meaningful conversations, and casual collaboration across all departments. The design had to comfortably accommodate 85 to 90 people in the short term, with the ability to scale up as the team grows. It was also important that the two separate buildings on-site felt unified, promoting a greater sense of connection. Alongside general working and meeting areas, a central hub was needed for communal moments, where teams could eat together, pause, or gather for all-hands meetings. For the product design team, we needed to create a zone that supported creative thinking and allowed for flexible product display. Across the site, acoustics, lighting and tech integration all had to be addressed, and material choices were to reflect Loaf’s values around quality, sustainability and conscious design.

The Challenge

Loaf’s space needed to achieve a fine balance, one that felt warm and relaxed while still being functional and future-focused. The layout had to support a range of working styles, from private one-to-ones to open collaboration, without feeling fragmented or overly formal. We also had to bring together two physically separate buildings in a way that felt seamless. With existing acoustic and lighting issues to solve, and a desire for sustainable, long-lasting design decisions throughout, every element of the brief required thoughtful consideration.

The Solution

We created a space that feels unmistakably Loaf: relaxed but purposeful, characterful but professional. At the heart of the office sits a welcoming communal hub, designed for sharing food, holding casual meetings, or bringing the whole team together for town hall moments. Around this central space, we introduced a variety of working zones; from small, thoughtfully designed meeting rooms to open-plan co-working areas that encourage creative dialogue. The product design team now has a bespoke, modular area that supports both their workflow and the flexible nature of the products they develop. Throughout the building, we introduced natural textures and greenery to boost wellbeing and bring a sense of the outdoors in. Acoustic solutions were integrated into the architecture, and a layered lighting strategy was designed to support long working hours throughout the year. Task lighting, ambient schemes, and natural light were all considered to create a balanced environment. Smart tech, including screens and monitors, was also incorporated where it would most support creativity and collaboration. The final result is a space that brings people together, captures Loaf’s spirit, and lays the foundation for continued growth.
